I'm tired of endless meetings and defending design decisions across the org.
I'm seeing less and less product value come from this.

I want to switch to front-end code and design systems, just to feel like I'm building again.
Am I nuts? Not worth it? Will I face hardship for not knowing LC? Or not having an eng degree?

You could try UX prototyper or design technology roles. They’re hybrid of front end and UX.

I mean that front end pays less than back end, but it has all the same problems, sometimes even on call. You can still make more as an FE at a big tech co than a designer. But design is closing the gap

FEE here. You will be fine without LC. As long as you have a strong knowledge on front end. Yes it pays little less than SDE, and there is oncall. You would be fine without a degree.

Thanks for the info! If it’s more TC then design (but not as much as SDE) I’m alright with that. The main driver for me is fewer meetings and more technical challenges.
