Moving to LA next month. My job is in Pasadena and I have a baby. Any recommendations on areas to look at? I don’t mind driving up to 30 mins to work, but want to live in an area where there’s something to do. Thanks!

I think South Pasadena is a bit cheaper and has better schools (last time I looked).

    • Agreed. Downtown Pasadena is nice if you need that urban feel. Commuting in LA is hell don’t do it if you don’t have to.

Thanks guys! I was thinking of Pasadena myself. Good to know it’s a great area. Is it walkable at all? Are there any areas within Pasadena that you recommend? I’m new to LA so appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks!

There was a time when that was true but it's improved quite a bit. Lived here with my small family for the last 6 years.

I don’t know if I would say Silverlake is a good area for kids. Unless your “kids” are emotional support chihuahuas and you have a 4ft mustache.

Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hancock Park, Mid City, tons of options tbh. You can live pretty far west since you’ll be commuting opposite direction of traffic so you kinda have your pick.
