USCIS update address question from a Canadian

Apr 25 2 Comments

I am joining a new company and have just moved to the states from Canada as a Canadian. In one of the emails that the law firm that my future company hired it says that not updating my address to USCIS within 10 days of moving is punishable by up to 30 days of jail. From some Google searches this seems to be true.

The problem is I was never asked to provide an US address throughout the process of entering USA as a Canadian. I tried to update my address with the web form that USCIS provided but it requires me to provide an old US address, which I never had.

Has anyone encountered this before?

  • No, and I think this is bullshit, contact the law firm company and they must tell you. I renewed my TN visa recently and previously no one asked me to update my address. I think you now have an address, if you move later, then you should submit the form and update your address.
