On one hand Uber is saying Gig workers deserve more and should get unemployment benefits, on other hand when Govt mandates that you give them those benefits by making them employees, Uber says it can’t, because their business model will collapse. So their whole business was based on legal loopholes of relying on under paid contractors.
And they claim to be a tech company? thoughts?

There needs to be a category between contractors and FT employees for gig workers. This is not just about drivers but will apply to any contract work in the future. Gig work is 100% at will, work as much as you want, and in some places drivers set their own prices. They should get some assurances, no one is debating that, but AB5 is so ambiguous and poorly written that it will do much more harm than good. The argument is to clarify it and be honest, which the AG is far from.
