Can anyone give any indication what it's like there especially now post layoffs? They seem like they are hiring a lot and business has somewhat rebounded. Interested in thoughts about culture and future prospects.
Lemme share the good and bad. Good is that business model is working. You can check sonder website and you will see its sold out in multiple cities. People are choosing sonder over hotels or imagine roadtrips, families meeting halfway, digital nomad, rent without contracts kinda scenario. You will realize that this company will do well. On the flip side, you may not benefit from Sonder doing well. The management is inexperienced. Even if there is an acqusition offer, they might still say we are gonna work really hard for next 10 years and make sonder the biggest hospitality brand in the world. Terms like IPO and rocketship are thrown around recklessly by people who then leave the company in few months.lol. The pay is definitely on the lower side because they want you to join for the options which they will tell you be worth 100$ + someday. Your eyes will litup and you will join for a low pay. So please do math before joining.
I think culturally the company priorities are moving quite a lot. The business model has been not so terrible compared to hotels right now. Definitely hiring very aggressively.
What are the internal feelings on the companies prospects now? How are they planning on growing?
Varies by individual team but overall sentiment on business is improving as travel is definitely picking up. International launches are pretty exciting and in the works too.
