Depends of what you mean by poorly. It's not always about solving the problem.

Yes, my code did not pass for all test cases but interviewer was satisfied with my approach.
And recruiter set me up with another coding interview saying the feedback was mixed signal. This was with Goldman Sachs.
So it's best to check with your recruiter

Yes. Didnt understand the question for about 30 mins. The interviewer felt sorry for me and explained it. It was a LC easy equivalent warm up Q and I coded it up in 10 mins. Then interviewer threw me a bone, asked an even easier question in order to pass time. I coded it up.

Not sure why but the recruiter called me back to say that I passed the initial day of onsite. On the second day, I killed it and got the offer.

Depends on the interviewer. Some live and die by the leetcode law. Those more senior with 20+ yoe understand communication, problem solving, and aptitude are the measurable. Not if the candidate has memorized an answer but is incapable of actual problem solving where the problem hasn’t been already solved.

Of course this happens all the time, if you mean minor issues that can be fixed later and not major issues
