The guy/gal said Databricks not Datadog. And FWIW I don't think it's too late to join and get big upside. Certainly a very good risk-reward tradeoff, in a sweet spot between FAANG and early stage startup.
My two cents though: don’t try to spot and pick winners as that’s a fool’s gamble with early stage companies. With later stage companies, the upside is usually priced in and you may be better off with FAANG with respect to compensation and career progression.
Stick to the tried and true advice of picking a domain, team, and role you’ll enjoy - regardless of company stage. Now if you’ve already done FAANG, it might be worth it to dabble in the startup space just for the different lifecycle experience.

Also a person note, everyone has a great idea. The execution is what matters most.
