Will recruiters consider gap in resume before rolling out an offer?
Hey blinders, I am in a bit of a pickle and need your advice.
I got an offer from Microsoft and another company B(masking to retain anonymity). I have accepted both the offers but I prefer joining Microsoft(better pay and wlb and benifits). B's joining date is in two weeks from now but Microsoft recruiter said that the background check alone will take 2 to 3 weeks. I am getting nervous because, I have a gap in my resume of 6 months, and no one brought it up during the interviews, and I have been reading these horror stories about Microsoft HR and their background check process on blind and reddit.
My questions are :
1. Do recruiters consider the gaps in resume before rolling out an offer?
2. Is it a good idea to call the Microsoft recruiter and clear up that they rolled out the offer considering the gap in the resume and it won't be a problem in the background check?
3. When should I tell the recruiter from B that I am not joining their company?
Please help me with some ideas around what my course of action here is. I am fairly inexperienced and would really appreciate any help in deciding my next steps.

As far as your resume gap, that will only be a problem if you lied on your resume or background disclosure document. If it’s a small discrepancy it won’t matter but if they find huge holes it might pose a problem. Typically they’re more focussed on compliance items with background check, they wanna make sure you’re not a pedophile or thief. So resume inconsistencies might slip past them if they’re minor.
I agree though. It’s not the right thing to do
Typically background checks refer to fraud or other major lies. Maybe a Microsoft hr can help confirm the process here.
