I have 14+ YOE non-CS (hardware) in SF bay area. All companies with offers below are not currently profitable. Startup #1 220k+10% cash bonus + ~70k/year ISO's for 4 years in a large well funded late stage startup = 310TC (242 + equity) Startup #2 100k+no bonus+no 401k+ 1.5% equity in a very small startup that just started few months ago = 100 TC + equity(no idea how to value) or Google Bet #3 Haven't gotten offer yet but already discussed current offer with recruiter and he said he can't match the base of #1. TC will be close to 250k max at current level(including bonus + equity). If interview feedback is good they might upgrade level and could go to 300k max but said that its unlikely. I already negotiated with #2 to let me work part time for them(@80% of FTE salary) along with #1 full time job. So I am pretty excited about total comp and work if #3 doesn't pan out. But I am wondering how much weight to put behind google (potential) offer if its less than #1. Biggest difference is that Google bet equity is liquid(convertible to google stock every year) while startup equity is illiquid. I am valuing startup equity as (#of shares that vest per year x (last funding round stock price - exercise price)). Also have read here that google bonuses and refreshers could add up quickly over few years. Not sure if that is still the case for a Google Bet. Google Bet also comes with a known brand name and comes with the usual google perks. What do you guys think ? At what TC is Google bet better than #1 ?
I have a headache.
Lolπ
Me too :)
Name the companies, without that looks like its no brainier to go to Google
Google. Easy. With google on resume you write your own ticket and can downshift to a startup at any time.
But it's not Google proper. It's a Google bet like waymo
Google TC is equivalent to startup cash offer so it's like I'm getting startup equity for free
Anyways, I'm just going to try negotiating it and see what happens
250k hw TC. Is that T4?

You really wanna work two jobs at the same time? Just go to Google so you can go anywhere you want afterwards
I really don't but #1 offers good pay and #2 offers exposure to work that I really want to get into long term. Google bet can offer both and hence it would be great. But if #3 TC < #1 TC: print('should I still take #3 ?') elif #3 TC > #1 TC: print('I should definitely take #1')
