did she violate the procedure by executing this pop-up without following the protocol? https://medium.com/@ksspiers/google-fires-another-worker-for-exercising-her-rights-and-protecting-coworkers-from-illegal-b86c41ef91b9
To me it sounds like an L2/L3 who does not know how the world works. Not sure what she was protecting. Seems like she need to learn that at will employment and what a CLM is.
She recently got promoted to L3 last month. Her performance ratings are 4/5 and 5/5 respectively.
😂 😂 😂 It's not valid if she's the one who wrote the headline
Lol she lives in a fantasy world I guess. That isn’t how the world works..
IMO, developing any kind of pop-up should be a fireable offense.
Lmao let her cry. This article doesn’t do anything positive for her.
Trying to get Googlers to unionize is about as well received as selling pork in the middle east. This moron didnt understand her market.
if that was true, google would not have hired IRI Consultants which is an anti-union consulting firm.
I would love to see the videos of her being interrogated
WTF this person is so entitled
Someone working in Google anonymously gave a gist of what happened on Quora. She started off with getting her change reviewed by a person not having domain knowledge and not sending the change request to her team. She did seem to violate bunch of things -- like using a special flag in source control system to bypass team from getting CL email, building a binary using an emergency process for critical bug fixes, using a similar emergency process to launch to every single desktop and laptop in Google( this is apparently almost never done ). This is absolutely a clear case of abuse, a complete lack of judgement; so it is easy to see now why she got fired.
Regarding "lack of judgement", you can also argue that she knew what is she doing and its possible consequences, and still decided (and had the courage) to go for it because of her belief in the cause she was advocating. Regardless of your views on employees rights and unions, the fact that she had the courage to risk her career for what she believed in is admirable. Google on the other hand, is the coward party here which shuts down employees by firing them.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Well she is really dumb so not a good fit for Google security team either way. Does she think Google is some kind of kindergarten or something? Or not working at Google is a punishment of some sort? You were just let go that's it. Don't work at Google in the first place if you don't want to work for whoever Google's owners are. It's a corporation owned by we don't know whom with whatever goals they have or might have. You can have a voice but just your own, don't use Google's platform against it. That's ridiculous.
