if you did happen to get a job in HFT / prop. trading as a new grad, are their companies paying 300k /yr for new grad positions. obviously it's not an easy thing to do, but are there companies offering that level of comp to new grads
A good friend of mine got an offer at JS. The base salary was 150k and bonus was 100k guaranteed for first year
After that it's based on performance
Pro tip: "property trading" is not a thing (it's proprietary). And no, you would not get that as a grad, unless you're a genius quant.
thank you for putting this person in line
oh damn. I actually did know that but the post was auto corrected when I was typing and I didn't notice
Yes, 300k is possible. Need to be near top of class in math at Harvard, MIT, etc.
God bless you that you're looking for that level of comp.
I'm not. I'm not interested in the soul sacking finance business as I've seen it. it's ugly. but when companies like Jane Street are paying interns the salaried equivalent of 125k I'm wondering what they bring new devs in at. I'm perfectly happy in the job I found making much much less than 300k
