Which company would give higher TC for same yoe? (not a new grad position) I am assuming that the QA role is more on the automation side, so it is not pure manual testing. Leave comments with TC/YOE for QA!
Need a popcorn option or other will be selected
Google is the top according to votes? You’re either crazy or very uniformed, people. Google pays shit since like 90-95% who work in QA are vendors. The average rate is $40-45/hr (for comparison that’s the lower pay limit for QAE1 at Amazon). Since Google QA are on contract they have no benefits and no PTO. The only benefits are cafeteria and other campus amenities, but guess what? They are building new offices in San Jose downtown without cafeterias and stuff, they’re literally henhouse for vendors. And it’s impossible to convert to full time since there are literally no full time QAs at Google. Telling you folks, Google treats its QAEs as shit.
we are talking about test engineer in google. Full-time, not contractors.
QA? What year is it?
Just an advice for all my fellow Qa folks, upgrade your skills and transfer to dev. We are moving towards more automation and despite most of the current qa roles doing just that, we are moving towards devs themselves writing those scripts. Our company no longer has qa separate from dev. The few that are left are teams outside is that still operate a little traditionally, but even that is changing.
i mean QA is moving more into automation. The QA job profile just includes automation as a requirement. Dev will also have a much higher bar coding wise. I think giving dev QA responsibility will backfire.
Not really. On the contrary it forces dev to be much better at their jobs. It forces devs to use TDD and saves a lot of back and forth. Improves the whole requirement specification process. And like you said if everything moves to automation, and devs can do it, why would companies hire a separate qa? This is by no means looking down on qa folks, just more of an observation on how the industry is moving. Just like I had to give up php at some point to remain relevant
Can anyone confirm if Google has full time qa roles ?
What other companies can anyone provide the name..
I’ve seen friends in QA roles in Google and Apple. Definitely very well paid compared to every other company I know of. That said, Microsoft and Google are getting rid of the SDET/QA roles. I don’t even know if Facebook, Amazon have them. Apple definitely has QA and is not going away with it anytime soon.
well google has a test engineer role, which is similar to QA. I don’t think it is going away. Where did u hear that? Amazon definitely has QA in devices. Facebook too, but I think it is small.
Amazon has SDET and QA Engineer roles for sure.
