I just started a new job this week and Im already seeing read flags. It is a startup with a small design team. What is odd to me is that there is a visual designer but she also work on ux design in product which confuses me to what she is actually responsible of. I was asked to do infographic as my first project for the blog. To me that seems like a visual designer’s job in a marketing team. I definetly did not sign up for projects like that so I am conflicted on what I should do. To stay or leave as it is not what I have expected to be.
Bleh Kick start interviews and offers you turned down. As a recruiter, I can’t stand hearing stories like this. I have such a low tolerance and am vigilant of my hiring managers who try these shenanigans. Totally fair and understandable if/when you leave quickly. Knock ALL your work out of the park. Be gracious, but if given the opportunity be clear and honest about your concerns. Move on sooner than later. Put your career first - and reach out to your network ASAP. 🚩🚩🚩🚩
^ this. can’t agree enough
I'm having this issue. I was 'talked to' because I'm not a UI designer. Seriously, I was hired to help fix a broken product with no user flow... They wanted tweaks on the UI and some MORE features on a bloated application with no direction. Now when interviewing I let each round know that if this is more than 10-20% UI design I'm not interested. Oh wait, I did that at that interview too but they lied, and offered more money....... More money doesn't change what I desire to work on.
Welcome to the startup world
