Look at people's packages. House price is still too low.

I have seen two crashes in the Bay Area and people who lost everything in those crashes. There is a lot of jacks shit companies including that POS UBER that call themselves "technology" with nothing but paper value. they will eventually drop like a rock. Been there seen it. Once the jobs are gone and folks default on their homes prices will drop faster than a prom dress. Only really high end multi million properties in SF, Atherton, PA are immune, they have their own cash market. No way a shit hole like San Jose or Sunnyvale (little India) is worth so much without the tech jobs.

Don't wait for the "burst". It may not happen anytime soon. If you are not too keen on spending more than a 1M, then pick a condo for now (instead of paying ridiculous rent)

    • and pay ridiculous interest on that condo, yea awesome advice. and take a hit when the market goes south since condos are the least appreciating housing and fastest to fall

Even if the supposed bubble bursts, don't expect prices to go down by more than 15% in most of the bay area (even less in highly sought-after areas like Cupertino, Mission), your house would appreciate that much in a year. Now is always the best time to buy a house.

I'm waiting. My reasoning: if I can't afford a non-shithole at 300k annual comp the prices aren't sustainable.
