I'm joining FB soon and am considering housing... i found an apartment literally walking distance to FB. Wondering if you'd live that close? Is the campus area fun/nice? or is there another area I'm overlooking like would it be nicer to live next to Stanford Shopping Center or Palo Alto downtown or something? I might consider a house too but looking at apartments primarily now. i can go up to 3k in rent.
Forget everything and live close to work. You won't believe how comfortable it is to live like that. Man, if only i lived 5 minutes away from work..
Depends what life you want. If live close to work, you will always be in work mode. I recommend living in the city.
Fremont
Live close and get the rent subsidy
Live in Fremont and Union City and save on rent. Commute also not bad, especially closer you get to Dumbarton
Live in a van
Newark
Indigo Apartments in Redwood City is amazing. Been living here for almost 2 years. 12 min commute and shuttle stop right in front of the place. Also walking distance to a downtown area with lots of restaurants, a movie theatre, etc. This place also gives a monthly discount on rent to FB employees and has a lounge specifically for FB employees. I know a few other apartments in Redwood City are doing this as well. I wouldn’t recommend living walking distance to FB. There’s not really much there lol. I’d also suggest Palo Alto or downtown Menlo Park.
A separate lounge for workers of one company? That's odd. Is it a place where FB employees can work and talk freely or a social lounge?
Downtown RWC or University Downtown PA if you want to balance fun with commute. Lived next to FB for awhile and was always work mode.
3k in rent? Dude, my mortgage is lesser than that in East Bay
And you bought this year?
