in my experience Ive always been hit with exploding offers, which sure are a bluff but they just come one week and say they expire in a few days or the company is looking for a response in that time either way. only so many ways to delay with comp and “having my counsel review it” other companies are always just in different phases by the time I have one offer or I’m low key being rejected more than I feel comfortable with do the big tech companies just let you hold offers for months or something until you can compete? +1 for the question. I also have this question
God knows how they do it.
I recently started interviewing and for practice have been interviewing with some of the early to mid stage startups. Failed some at phone screens but scheduled all three on-sites of companies i like in the same week. Took the whole week off from work. Got offers from all three (not accepting any) so i am planning to do the same when i interview with my target companies as well in few weeks. But ofcourse anything more than a three onsites in a week doesn’t seem like a good idea but depends on the person. Would definitely love to know if there are any smart ways of doing this from others.
Offers are often good for a year so get those first
At Facebook and other large tech companies?
Only for lower level roles.
Schedule onsites within a week of each other. Be willing to walk away from an offer - be upfront about your timelines - say you won’t be able to make a decision so soon. Most recruiters will try to push for an answer soon - but they understand if you won’t be able to make a decision. If you get an explosive offer - and you aren’t sure about the company - just politely let them know it isn’t possible to make the decision so soon - and be willing to walk away if they say they can’t wait. You ideally don’t want to be working in a company that bullies you to accept a low ball offer.
Agree with this. I’ve fallen in this trap before. It sucks
