Asking for a friend whos an EU citizen and wants to move to the US for work. Do any companies do work sponsorship for people from non-BRIC countries? His skillset is sales/business development. advice greatly appreciated.
There are no countries in Europe with special access to H-1B. Only Chile and Singapore do (the "H-1B1" visa program). It is difficult for anyone to get H-1B sponsorship. The best ways are to study in the US and find an employer that will hire you on OPT and then switch you to H-1B. Or find an employer that will hire you abroad and transfer you in using an L-1 visa and then switch you to H-1B. It is illegal for US employers to discriminate on the basis of national origin when deciding who to sponsor H-1B visas for. You just need to be familiar with the strategies that other people are using.
Thanks for the clarification, that’s really helpful. Do you happen to know where can I find info on the strategies that people are using to get sponsorship? I don’t know anything about the process.
Try joining some online groups of international students, they will discuss things like this. There are also immigration forums online where you can post.

H1B has no relation with any country
This may be true, but seems to me that nobody can get an employer to provide work sponsorship unless you’re from a BRIC country.
Not completely true. It's much easier for people who are qualified for H1B1 visa
