usually how much you would negotiate the equity for a tech cofounder? currently the founders has been sleeping on an idea and looking for tech cofounder? have some go to market plan handy.
50/50 if the idea is legit
50/50 usually never happens and should not happen, it dilutes the ownership.
If one has no funding and won't pay any salary, the risk is the same for both cofounders. Ideas are a dime a dozen. Of course if you can find someone to take less and convince them to join and they happen to not suck, good for you.
You should have an operating agreement about who's bringing what to the party (the idea, cash, time, connections etc). You can make some rough estimates based off of what has already been committed and what everyone is planning on committing in the future. Make vesting contingent upon on following through with those commitments.
50/50. Ideas are worth Jack shit.
There is a good startup equity split calculator tool online. Too lazy to google the link
You google it yet my man?
Yea, looks like it is foundrs.com and perhaps itβs a bit less detailed than I remember
Always do vesting (1 year cliff. 4 year vesting) and get the audiobook "The Founders Dilemma" unless you like learning the hard way
We did 50/50 on common stock and the preferred stock was based on how much we self funded. We also had employment agreements and buyback provisions if someone left early.
How did you find your cofounder ? Iβm in a similar situation.
Here on Blind. Its a great place to connect.
I have not had luck finding one. I'll keep looking for.
Are you getting a salary also? Other cofounders getting salary? Usually the one who comes up with the idea and bring the funding gets the maximum share.
No one takes salary till getting couple of paid customers. Would be great if you can comment how much to expect
How many other cofounders? Assuming 2 more, the range could be 15-30%. I know a CTO who was getting about 10% but he was not the cofounder.
