How much love do you all share with others with your glorified TC?
Like 40% to this non profit organization called as "the government".
Lucky you only 40%. Others are “donating” 69.420%
Where would this be the case?
i would rather donate to some orgs than tip people for delivering stuff .. alas, i do both..
Is giving money to some relatives every month who are not doing so good considered charity?? It’s like 350 bucks every month
Yes. Zero admin expenses so very efficient too.
That's the best way imo. A direct donation to someone who needs it goes a long way. If you donate to a charity, more than 50% of your donation probably ends up going towards operational overhead and not the people who need it.
1% of gross income. Plan on sticking to that as the years go on and am getting my partner on it next yr. Mostly with recurring monthly donations so it's on autopilot.
I don’t participate in USA way of donating. I would rather have universal healthcare and pay more taxes than donate to scam companies like St Judes, where the hospital is actually a deliberate scam and people donate to feel good about themselves and only donate to people they feel deserving. Not the actual deserving people. Sorry. I will rather actually help people than participate in this mockery. Charity in USA is mostly a scam. Rich people’s tax avoidance vehicle and feel good vehicle, without changing anything in the society. I won’t donate a single dime other than my taxes. Reduce military spending in half and you don’t need donating anything anymore. Same reason I hate tipping. Fix the actual problem.
Just because there are some scam charities doesn't mean there aren't any good ones that actually help people. charitywatch.org Waiting for governmental change to donate through taxes might not actually happen.
Yeah. I donate to an organization and the executive eat half of that. Sorry. Not my idea of helping the needy.
Currently in accumulation phase so can't really donate much. I don't feel like donating to random charities without doing any research is very fruitful anyway. I gotta save up for my parents healthcare expenses, buying a couple of houses and currently paying off tuition for our siblings right now. Once I secure all this I'll help a lot of less fortunate family members with their education.
You never leave accumulation phase. I donated more money during my first job out of college making less than 50k a year than I do now with 300k tc. More money more greed
Totally agree. We need to do our part to give to the less fortunate, we are very lucky to be where we are
For me, it’s exactly $1.
Wow. There’s a lot of cheap people here
Not sure why there's a need to shame people into donating. Everyone has their own journey and different goals. Bill gates was the most selfish and ruthless businessman for decades while accumulating wealth and trampling competition. Now he's one of the most altruistic people. It's not all black and white.
tl;dr gujohu is Bill Gates 2.0
Op, based on your replies here, my answer to you is this: mind your own damn business. If I donate $1 instead of $10k you have no room to judge buddy. Go ahead and donate 90% of your income before you get on a high horse 🤡 don’t tell people what to do with their money
Taken advantage of? Ridiculous. You don't think you could be more generous to those who are way less fortunate?
I'm the same as the poster above, but I just admit I'm not super generous.
