how to move up in my career without an MBA?

blind family, i need some advice. late 20s single male. i want to get my mba to advance my career, possibly get into consulting. i want to attend a top 10 mba program with hopes of becoming a consultant for a top 3 consulting firm (bcg, bain, mckinsey). part of me wants to go to bschool to find a significant other, relaunch my career, and take a break from the rat race in silicon valley. i only want to become a consultant because i truly do not know what I want to do in my career. are these the right reasons to go to school? how can i find a meaningful career without going to bschool?

What do you do now? Current TC? Shaadi dot com for significant other. No need to do 200k MBA.

I dont want a indian housewife

I am surprised why no one is bashing you for not wanting an Indian housewife (just FYI there are tonns of smart Indian successful working women, who would refuse you for your thought process) Yet, when an Indian girl says she doesn't want an Indian man even a working one, let alone a house husband; it's frowned upon. Why the double standards Blind? Sorry went off topic here.

These are pathetic reasons to go for an MBA. Work hard, get real world skills - that's how you advance. MBA doesn't teach you anything, it's a glorified networking stunt for 2 years. Experience > Degrees

Honestly, if you can afford one it's an incredibly enriching experience.

Not knowing what you want to do is a completely valid reason to do consulting. MBBs hire primarily from top 10 MBAs. Hence your thought process makes complete sense. But if you think silicon valley is a rat race, consulting is next level. Its up or out. You will learn a lot from a top ranked MBA program and it's a very enriching experience.

Do it. Lots of people in good MBA programs are career switchers.
