I am not in the market for a new job anymore. :)
I am a SWE who transitioned to SRE about a year ago, although I'd been working for companies too small for a dedicated SRE/Devops person and doing SRE things for about 5 years. Total YoE is 12 years.
I applied at several much larger companies than I've worked at before. Everyone wanted to downlevel me for SRE positions. I officially only have 1 year of SRE experience, but a ton of backend/platform SWE experience. Did I sell myself badly or should I have expected to be downleveled for only 1 year of experience with the SRE title?

But i had a chance to work oin SRE team but on the development side and I actually got upleveled. Developer to SRE should not lead to downlevel.
