A little more than a year ago I turned down a Roblox offer for a startup. Now I’m feeling sad 😔. TC = 180 + stock that certainly did not 20X in valuation this past year alone.
Why did you turn it down ?
What was the offer? I had onsite scheduled but didnt go
I rejected after manager call :(
I had an Airbnb on-site back in 2018 which I did not go for because I joined Google instead. You trade high risk/reward for security
Should've joined Gamestop.
I turned down roblox as well with 5 dollar options. However, if I hadn't, I may have missed out on an insane year of learning and growth at my current company. I also would not have gotten another offer at a pre ipo company that is poised to give me even higher returns than roblox. At the end of the day, we can wallow in regret or be on the lookout for the next opportunity.
You are purely speculating on “higher returns than roblox “ so please stop. It’s not “poised” to, it either has or hasn’t.
Lol, I can do whatever I want
OP, what was the Roblox offer?
I turned down pinterest offer years ago for another unsuccessful company before joining roblox. You never know. Focus on your next target and take risk. I failed once before.
Are you posting on blind to feel better
Better than posting on Blind to make others feel worse.
I am actually not sure about that. It doesn’t have the same moral implications but is much less likely to succeed
I turned down multiple offers from pre-ipo unicorns over the years, at some point I feel that my rejections might be a blessing to those companies :P Jokes aside, I highly recommend the book "Thinking in Bets". What you should learn from your past is the decision process and how to improve your judgement, not the result
That’s a good book. Help us to decompose the outcome from the quality of the decision.
You didn’t know what would’ve happen. What if tech crashes tomorrow after it went way up? Your msft stock with brown relatively safe.
I don't understand. Employee stock is locked up for 6 months. Anything can happen in that time. Why look at IPO prices as an indicator for anything?
no lockup if direct listing
