L5 PM - nothing wrong with my day-to-day, but feel like my career growth is moving along too slowly.

Am wondering if a lateral move to a slightly smaller big company (e.g. AirBnB, Slack, etc) would be better long-term, or if grinding it out at FAANG to L6-7 would be worth the time / lead to better opportunities down the road.

Obviously seed - series B startup is also an option, but that's a little different given the interest in the problem space is much more important vs. working at a BigCo.

Curious how others in this position assess this issue, or what you've seen from the career trajectories of colleagues who left FAANG at a junior level.

You’re at Google. What do you expect? Better WLB comes with relatively slower growth

Sure, but this wasn't about WLB. I was asking for weigh-in on tradeoffs for long-term career growth (however you define that) between rising at a BigCo and leaving at L7 vs. a lateral shift somewhere smaller at a lower level; and if you've seen cases of either working out / not working out.
