Two quick job changes on resume, how do they show up in a background check?

I moved companies before COVID and was fired from the new company last week. Both my stints were with tech companies and ~6 months, which looks very bad on my resume. As I recruit, can I tell folks that I was on a short term consulting basis with my last company? Does your employment type (consultant, full-time) show up on reference checks?
Am on an H1B. YOE 9 yrs and TC $0 :(

Background check produces a table of results.

Each row contains employer name, start date, end date, title, and base salary (if reported)

Thanks! This is helpful. I guess I could pass off my last role as a short term consulting stint in that case..

My previous company only provides dates of employment and job title.

Don't list them? If you didn't apply for credit or mortgage, they won't be on a background check

They sponsored my h1b, would that not show up or can I have a different resume for the immigration lawyers (I will have to disclose the latest employer name for visa transfer)..

Sorry, not a h1b here. I left off a job and had no issue during a background check. Guess its different for visa

  • I have few that are 8 months or less on my resume. Probably been asked casually once in an interview.

How did you frame your reasons for looking for a new job immediately after the short stint?

    • Forgot to mention that none of these were full time. One place I had an older colleague that was manager so no issues. One place I mentioned that I am looking for a full time position. One place the stint was short so it ended. I also have extremely long stints as well on resume so I guess it gets nullified
