I think a lot of people are not understanding what affirmative action is aiming to solve, so let me give a more relatable example.
Imagine you are on an NBA team that is not the Warriors. You know the Warriors have 5 All-Stars, but you’re an All-Star too and you can take them on. You work your ass off all year, but sadly your team lost. But you know there’s always more work to do so you continue on.
What if I told you though that every time the Warriors win a national championship, you have to forfeit a portion of your salary to them and you aren’t able to change jobs. And that every year one more All-Star joins the Warriors ranks. And this continues for decades.
If you’re on Team Warriors, life is good. You sucked for years but with determination and a little luck you got to be #1. So you believe the other teams will rise up.
