Apple, give me one chance

Jul 29, 2021 6 Comments

I have been applying to numerous positions at Apple over the last couple of months, but never got any sort of response whatsoever. Not even a standard "we're moving forward with other candidates" mail. Referrals too haven't worked out.
What could be wrong? On my resume, I have only one project in Java. Could that be the reason, since Apple expects strong expertise in Java? Or is it that the people referring me have to be seniors/ higher level?

Yeah bro...you are most likely getting rejected based on your work. Most of the teams at apple are migrating towards scala. We also expect experience in latest tech stack. Just java wont be enough. Because now a days a lot of candidates are capable of clearing interviews . So we look for candidates who got extra edge on tech stack.

I think you may be focusing too much on language expertise. Apple cares a lot about your experiences and what you have done more than the specific language. Most people don't know swift when joining Apple for example but it is expected that you can learn it. Did you build something cool? Is it useful? Who did it help? How many people did you work with? How big was the scope of the work? These are more important than just raw expertise.

I don't think I focused on any language to be honest. Just that I mentioned the tech stack I used against each project on my resume. I believe I touched most of the points you mentioned at the end. But yes, may be I ll have to restructure the way I put forth some details. Thanks.
