What are the primary differences? Wondering how the two companies compare. Is there collaboration between the two or are they mostly considered separate companies?
Dell is consumer stuff Dell emc is enterprise, same company. Owned by Dell Technologies which owns pivotal, part of VMware, RSA etc
Basically they all are under the same company:- Dell Technologies, not much difference. Being a huge company it all depends on what kind of product you are working on.
Benefits tend to be different between the two
The EMC website is dog shit.
EMC ppl are young and not very tenured. They have go getter attitudes but their tactics scare off customers. Dell folks are more easy going relationship based sellers
DellEMC pays significantly more than Dell in sales. You generally have to know your technology and have a clue when it comes to the industry to work in that division. When it comes to Dell, they pay less because they expect less. Low margin products (think laptops, desktops, etc) combined with an endless supply of low cost labor equals a laid back attitude. High margin, highly differentiated solutions require a different sales force. One that is professionally aggressive, consultative, and knowledgable will make a ton of money for DellEMC. At the end of the day, everybody is going to be rolled into one large sales organization. We all will be selling laptops, desktops, printers, storage, VMware, etc. Hopefully the Dell people will learn how to sell and not just rely on an email address with @dell.com to get meetings. That may work in the small market or commercial space, but in the Enterprise and Globals, not so much.
