NDA & WORK PORTOFLIO

Mar 25 5 Comments

There are a lot of companies, specially the Fintech ones, which do not allow their employees to showcase the design work from the office in their personal UX portfolio due to the NDA agreement. This is very prevalent when you are working on institutional application / softwares. Writing to see if anyone here is facing similar issues and if yes, then how you tackling it when it comes to applying for new jobs and presenting your work?

@evergreee disclosing company info to a hiring group behind a password still breaks the NDA 🙃 Driving a little bit over the speed limit doesn’t make it not a crime.

@XRFAH13 I just downloaded relevant design documentation and uploaded to my own Dropbox via a browser. That means I’m technically liable, but tbh nothing I worked on was Top Secret Google X type stuff.

Consider using lorem ipsum. It worked for me. Plus password.

Your NDA should outline what is considered confidential, so you’ll know what you can or can’t share. I’ve written up not case studies, but project abstracts, where I’ll omit any sensitive information and talk more about challenges and process. Most big companies totally understand and DO NOT WANT you to reveal things to them covered by an NDA. When in doubt I’d say write something up and have it approved by whoever at your company can approve something like that.
