I was recently promoted to sr DevOps engineer (L6) and got 10% base pay increase and about 34k in stocks bringing total comp to about 220k.
I feel like this is pretty low for an L6 at Amazon with over 10 yoe. I started looking internal and another team offered me a role as senior sysDev/sre for the same base pay and 20 shares, manager saying TC would be 350k (I ran the numbers based on todays stock price of $3500, and that would bring tc to 340k)
I’m also interviewing with a startup fintech, haven’t gotten an offer yet, but I’m fairly confident I will get one at the end of my interviews.
So I’m not sure what to do, The internal team is doing cool things at a massive scale so there’s lots of learning and growth opportunity, but I need more $ (at least on base since I can’t wait 6 months for a lump sum that’s going to be taxed like crazy). The fintech I’m interviewing with looks super cool (in crypto space) and has a very nice culture with good wlb.
