anyone have a good idea for a 1-2week solo trip flying out of the bay area? i don’t want to bother arranging travel with someone else so i’m going solo. id basically like to go somewhere thats not too expensive with fun activities for a single person. also, i dont have an instagram account anymore so im not doing it to get useless photos no one cares about.
lol. you sound bitter.com with that last part. when you get out of your feelings, post your TC and take a look at trip advisor. and wth is meant by “fun activity”? microdosing?
TC 460. Last part about Instagram is because I feel people only go places to get followers these days. My friends have literally told me “I do this for the grams”. I’d rather be in the moment. That being said I’d also like to avoid places like Thailand where you go to these cool places and it’s full of people taking selfies and crowded as hell.
off the beaten path places aren’t cheap to get to, but once you’re there USD is pretty strong and your money will go far. i solo travel a lot. bc my friends would rather go to cancun or london and call it traveling. imo if you’re gonna travel at least learn about a new culture. in burma, where literally 0 americans go, they were amazed i made the trek and wondered why.
Tokyo is really fun, really safe, easily navigable with Google Maps, and generally accessible to English speakers.
I'm going to Rome in March. April may be slightly more ideal cause it will be warmer and still not a lot of people on vacation I'm biased cause gladiator is my favorite movie
Mexico City
Looks like a good place and during the winter months temps should be alright I think
but....cartels...drug lords and sex trafficking 🙄
Northern Thailand - less touristy than the south with better weather and a slower pace. Colombia - you can do everything here, and for super cheap. Surfing, diving, hangliding, tours, cuisine, etc and everyone LOVES tourists there because it’s only recently that they’ve started coming (due to the violence in the 90s and early 2000s). Europe: Not cheap but if you want to visit 10 counties in 2 weeks, this is place to do it. It’s super touristy in most places though so be prepared for long lineups and sometimes obnoxious locals.
+1 for colombia but op might not feel safe. maybe a resort area like punta cana would be better
I travelled around Medellin, Cartagena and Barranquilla and never felt in danger. I’m also tall and a a dude though, so YMMV. Medellin and Cartagena in particular have very good infrastructure and are safer than many American cities now (cough Baltimore cough)
I'd visit Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, South Korea.
