does not responding to a Google recruiters initial email hurt my chances of a future opportunity? im currently at FB and have no current interest in a role at Google.
Pfft. You think they will remember you after a few months?
It’s almost like they don’t have computers that track all this...
Yes, they will do a search for your name to see if they tried to contact you in the past. And if that contact was not reciprocated then they will strike down upon you with such great vengeance..
I do the same , and then once I was annoyed and I said yes - after a week they came back and said no current roles , then after a month again e-mails :)
No, they're going to assume that you didn't see it
It’s always good to interview a couple of times a year (1-3 if you just want to stay on top of the process). Plus, you never know - you could nab a much higher TC.
In my experience your name stays in their database and different recruiters reach out over time (probably recruiter churn). I doubt they care that much TBH as they always need more people.
Spend the 30 seconds replying that you aren’t looking right now, but check back in 6 months. Costs you nothing, keeps the door open, and makes someone’s job slightly easier.
Honestly they won't mind if you don't reply. A Google recruiter reached out to me last year and I replied to them last month asking about the opportunity and he was happy to help.
No, but it can be respectful to write something like "I appreciate the reach out, but I am currently happy with my current role." I know I have had candidates do that myself, that come back in a year and I try to return the respect.
Just say no thanks. I get emails from companies that I would never work at and I still respond with a nice 3-sentences email
