how do you convince a hiring manage to take interviews unofficially? I had a chat with hm and he said he can only do the phone screening without me applying to the job officially but when it comes to onsite interview he said I’d have to apply officially. I don’t want that to happen as it would notify my manager. How have others, who switched teams internally at Amazon, dealt with this? He seemed to understand the risk of involving manager in the process but said that this is out of his control as for onsite rounds the recruiting team gets involved. #amazon #internaltransfer #interview
The process at Amazon is to first have the informational, in which you informally sell yourself. The HM might not know that, link them to the page on Inside.
I already had the informational where he agreed to have the next phone interview unofficially but for onsite he said I’ll have to apply officially and only then I’ll be invited
It sounds like they want to go by the book then. What’s your hesitation? Don’t want to tell your current manager?
Yes, I don’t want to tell my current manager cz if I do and don’t get through this interview then I don’t know how my manager would consider my seriousness to work in his team. But it looks like either I’ll have to let my manager know or let go of this position.
Looking for SDE-2 OR SDE-3 in Seattle. No issues with keeping everything informal til everyone's inclined

What’s with the NW posts?
That's bullshit. Your hiring manager can conduct the interviews without you officially applying to the role. When they're inclined, they can setup the loop retroactively and post their feedback there..
