I’m currently a first year analyst at Barclays and want to VC in NYC. I have no clue how to break in especially since all of my fellow analysts go to late-stage PE firms. would love to get some thoughts/guidance, thank you!
Either be a math savant or go for ivy MBA
wrong coast for vc ;)
Easier to break in in nyc than west coast for lots of reasons imo. Dm me
Best way is to go to a startup or FAANG and make VP level, then make the move to VC, you'll be much more useful to portfolio companies then. Think about it from the point of view of a CEO of a hot startup. They'll want to take money from someone who knows their shit and has built a product. What people don't realize is, money is a commodity and the good startups can pick and choose who they get money from.
MBA for sure. I went to a recruiting session for an Ivy League and like half of them were with VCs
