That's how most companies do layoffs, you apply internally for openings or leave
I'm sure that's a comfort to those 550 at Wayfair who became instantly unemployed a couple of days ago. They didn't have that option. Companies who do layoffs as a cost saving measure are not interested in keeping the employees, they just want them gone.
Their cloud sucks. The business line never took off. It will always be third grade. They keep bringing New heads and nothing works. Google is a consumer company, can’t work with business and government
I heard the hired a bunch of Amazon engineers, which is probably why the standard has dropped and affected the product. Trying to balance getting in early into the market vs controlled hiring with a good hiring bar is tough
Cloud at the core is just Ops, so they have good reasons to hire those Amazonians.

Don’t think that’s accurate. Maybe true sometimes. In my experience most times developers get re-assigned to different teams/projects.
