Advice on job change and career prospects for Supply chain engineer

I have 6 YOE as a technology development and quality reliability engineer. Got an internal opportunity to move into supply chain engineer pathfinding role internally. If I take this role now I am wondering if this would help or hurt my career for outside job market with my experience. I am not familiar with SCE job market and compensation.
