I’m currently a PM Director at FB managing an org of 24 PMs. Netflix reached out regarding a genuinely interesting role but mentioned that outside of 4 VPs, pretty much everyone is a senior IC.
I’m cool with this, but I’m a little worried stalling my career going back to an IC Director role, particular whenever I look to do something else one day.
Anyone at Netflix that can share more on the PM Directors there? Getting back into people leadership is always harder somewhere new, and I can’t tell if they’re just giving me the sales pitch about the role of ICs or if it’s for real. I’m also curious what how PM Directors are perceived there, scope, and what some have moved on to next (to calibrate on scope/impact).
Thanks in advance! I love leading a team, so just trying to be very convinced before moving back to IC.
