Offer Selection: Google L5 vs Facebook E5 vs Microsoft L64

I recently got verbal SDE offers from FB E5 and Google L5 but don’t know the numbers yet.

I am very happy in my current team in MSFT and doing CVP level impact but my stock cliff is coming to an end within 1 year, and my current level in MSFT is 64 with
TC ~400k due to stock appreciation.

What would be the best numbers for FB/Google and what would be the best strategy for negotiating?

Lastly, do you think if MSFT would give counter offer if I choose to disclose my situation before accepting any offers?

    Wouldn’t go for a counter. Either stay or jump. Don’t want your team thinking you’re trying to leave if it’s only going to get you a ~10% raise or so. Shoot for 550k at G/FB

    What was preparation strategy? Mostly for system design

      TBH I didn’t prepare, I used to read Grokking the System Design course few years ago but it wasn’t useful for these loops at all.

      I designed some APIs, DB schema, and some algo for scalability. I think the trick is to be able to explain the most basic solution then iterate from there. The mindset should be how you would build a startup for the asked problem. How would you organize the concepts for the MVP and further in your startup?

      My ex manager did it once and regretted it. He said doing so you give them the intention of leaving the company and the only thing that held you back was the increased monetary compensation (the counter offer). This gives a bad rep within the company and might hinders vertical progress

      I don’t agree. I did it n not regretting as of now. It may matter at l6-l7 level.

    • I would consider a long term (3-5 years) growth first. Myself have been in the roles which looked amazing for couple of years but ended up not so great in long term. Money wise FB and G should be comparable. What’s making you stay with MS after cliff? Optimism and hope in your M1 an M2 treating you well?
