I was invited to the aws final loop (virtual "onsite") and the manager mentioned in the prior call that the particular position I applied might be filled already but they could use me for other positions if I pass the onsite. I checked the position in aws site and it is marked as no longer under consideration although my loop is scheduled for next week.
Does that happens often? Seems like a team matching type of approach. I heard similar situation for google or fb but never found such thing in aws comments. Im concerned that for not having a specific position I could just be ignored in the process and not get an offer even if I do well on the onsite. Any thoughts/comments?

Ps: the position I originally applied was for inside account executive

I wouldn’t be too concerned. Sometimes teams get HC and haven’t added them publicly so it could be that they could use you for another role within the same org. Good luck

Thanks for your reply. What if I pass and then there is an open position with another team? Would I have to re-do the onsite or just a call with the HM?

Just an update, I passed the final loop and the recruiter said the feedback was positive but due an unique situation (she didnt explain what exactly even though I asked directly if it was that im being considered for another role) she said i will have to do another 45m/1h interview with a sales leader to explore more on my think big attitude and sales acumen. What are the reasons for that? Could it be that Im being considered for a higher level/grade position than originally applied?
