Considering buying both Robinhood (@ $18.94) and Slack (@ $29.51) pre-IPO stock.

Any feedback on the stock prices? Good value? Too expensive? Too late to purchase these stocks? TIA

@qUyB01 it depends. A registered broker dealer, like microventures will likely ask for documentation. Others don't. But all will have you sign legal documents attesting that you meet the accreditation qualifications.
There's some risk in them not asking for proof, but it seems like it'd only be an issue if a non accredited investor puts money in, loses their investment, and sues saying they "didnt understand what they were investing in".Which they'd have to be an idiot to do because it would mean admitting to fraud (or whatever the legal term is for lying on a legal document)

    • Makes sense thanks. Am sure this depends from company to company but are the securities fairly liquid?

As anti spam said, enterprise is all about who can sell better. And no one can sell better to enterprise than MICROSOFT. Unless SLACK can differentiate tremendously MICROSOFT will eat their lunch.

@OP: which pre-IPO so far you invested through equityzen, and how much each investment was? If any of those went to IPO, how much return it was comparing the IPO price to your investment?

Never thought of pre-IPO investment. But even if one sales on first day, it’s easy money!

I’ve bought Nextdoor previously. Haven’t been able to liquidate anything yet, so don’t have ROI info to share. First time investors can get in with $10K

  • What does that put the valuation at for each?

    • Just read an article that said $17 billion for slack at $28

    • That’s one reason a lot of people don’t use EquityZen for super late stage companies - IPOs will dilute your value already. Also you won’t get shares until lockup, and by then it could tank to half value. So in the case of Slack, you might as well wait for lockup to buy it on the public markets if you really wanted the stock.
