Got offers from LinkedIn and Cruise

LinkedIn
Role: SE
TC : 250k (base and RSU)
Sign on 60k
Location: Sunnyvale

* good team
* great wlb
* Brand name and less uncertainty
*Hybrid

Cruise
Role: SSE I
TC 288k (47K paper money)
Signon 50k
Location: remote/SF/seattle

* Seems like a good team, work is not bad for sure
* ipo
* fully remote but i prefer hybrid

In terms of career growth, learning opportunity and job security which would be better option.

Not worried much abour wlb. Heard layoffs happened in both LinkedIn and cruise. Anything to worry about that?

UPDATE: thanks for all the comments, after weighing options i have I am going with Cruise. I think Cruise will succeed or atleast will have good IPO. And also LI recruiter mentioned this offer valid for 1 year and asked me to reach out to him if something changed

    I think this is a very good time to join Cruise if you are excited about the mission and looking to grow your career. We reached a very good milestone where the car drives without a driver and next year 2022 is going to be a very important year for us. I suspect we might IPO. Now Cruise is working on a very difficult problem, that makes it harder to operate without chaos at times. Also the pressure is higher than average companies because it’s a much harder problem. However as they say, no pain no gain. I believe this company will succeed and when it does, it’s going to be huge.

    LinkedIn not even a question. Cruise let go of several SWE teams and many more teams during the start of the pandemic… a company that is entirely funded by GM/donors and will not make a “profit” for many years.

      Yes. That's true of many companies in the bay. We all live of vapor until we IPO, then it's the shareholders (read: bag holders) problem.

    As an ex cruiser, I’ll say go with Cruise. It’s a great company with great work culture. You’ll earn like crazy with they go IPO. My only reason for leaving was they were low balling me.

    Job security and WLB choose LinkedIn, career growth and potential lottery ticket go with Cruise. Working on self driving cars also sounds way more interesting then fb for professionals, but I've heard linked is very chill.

  • I worked at both LinkedIn and Cruise. While Cruise’s mission might seem exciting, the work culture can really take a toll on you and burn you out especially if you’re in infra. Be prepared for a lot of chaos if you do go in but don’t expect to stay more than 1-2 years there. I learnt a lot at Cruise but not something I’d repeat.

    LinkedIn will perhaps not excite you but you’ll have a really nice WLB and the stock is doing really well.
