Applied for a position at slack. Spent more than 10 hours interviewing and finishing up their coding assignment. The recruiter was non responsive throughout the process. I had to email atleast 3 times for any queries I had. AFTER the final interview, got rejected with ‘too many applicants’ bs. I mean for a company like Slack, and also considering the time I spent interviewing, their response was ‘too many applicants’. Honestly the worst ever experience I ever had regarding the interview process.

Edit: The reason as to why I wrote this post is because companies should apply the filter of ‘too many applicants’ at the first stage of the interview process, not after final interviews after the interviewee has spent hours within the process.

    • Imo I don't think it's just because OP failed, it's the way slack rejects OP that's pretty disrespectful to his time/effort. Hiring should be a two way street.

      You think ‘too many applicants’ after the 10 hour hiring process is a valid response? This filter should be applied at the first stage of the process. Also even if I was rejected at the final interview, I should be given useful feedback…

    I had 2 phone interviews which lasted about 1-1.5 hour, a coding assignment which took me about 3-4 hour and then the final interview(s) were back to back 4 hour interviews.
