feeling down, any cool/funny/uplifting stories good for distractions?
Go over the questions where you felt stuck. With time and no pressure, can you still solve? Research until you can. I read a post here where they wrote down each question asked and went over it afterward. No offers from the companies. After 3 months of this process they had offers enough to turn down.
I talked through the logic of the code, which the interviewer green lit, but the actual coding of it required so much logic, I could only get it partially coded up. Idk
As I've said so before on here, these interviews are just pattern recognition. Not just for identifying the problem but also for coding it up. You need practice in writing the code for the problems too. A lot of problems share a common pattern in the solution and you need to be fast in writing the common parts. For eg.. Dynamic programming, sliding window, monotonic queue, backtracking. Even the code follows a...at risk of sounding repetitive.. pattern..
Which company? Bad luck happens, so cast a wide net.
What went wrong in the interview? How hard was it?
It was a leetcode hard (looked it up after). I knew how to solve it and talked through the logic, when it can’t time to coding it, there was just too much logic to write and have working. Maybe I wrote too much before I started to test... idk
Every great story starts with failure. Now you have made it through the first chapter. Now to the next part of the story (the rise, picture Rocky Balboa jogging through the streets Leetcoding every day)
Have survivor playing in the background, punch my MacBook and break it, regret it and just go back to work lol
I got rejected by every company in bay area last year for internship but now Im at Google as SWE. So keep calm and leetcode.
Damn, I have a deep seeded fear that I’ll spend hundreds of hours LCing then realize I’ll never be smart enough to join FANG and i just wasted my time 😬
Stop putting FAANG on a pedestal. Most of them are just REGULAR ASS engineers who got lucky with their pattern recognition on interview day.
Did they say that you did bad? Did they indicate something? What went wrong?
No feedback yet. The guy said he understood what my solution was, however in the past I’ve failed even with a working solution and optimizing it. It’s not that something went wrong, I just wasn’t coding fast enough
LeetCode
Yeah I’ve been LCing 3 hours a day for the past couple of months
Dont feel bad about it, check what went wrong and move on
