HR misinterpreted compensation expectation, what to do?

long story short:
1. went thro final interviews with a non-faang, positive feedback (“strongest candidate”)
2. communciated current employers general range when asked about expectations (not Kaiser)
3. external recruiter who ive been working with communciated that with their HR
4. silence from their HR
5. recruiter feels that their HR misinterpreted and is concerned about it as they see it as unattainable
6. recruiter encouraged me to reach out to their HM directly (i havent done it)
i really want this role (great fit for me and career) and never said they need to match.
what should i do??
would it seem unprofessional if i follow the recruiters advice (reach out to HM directly)?
