Have been interview aggressively and every hiring manager seems to keep asking if I'm interviewing with other firms and keep insisting to naming them.

How does it affect my chances?
Does it change anything?
I feel pressurized and end up admitting the names but I'm not able to contemplate how it affects my application.

  • They use that to figure out how much they should offer you

This commonly happens if multiple candidates clear the bar within a few days of each other but the manager has limited headcount. Then, the manager has to decide who to extend the offer to. Everything else remaining equal, most managers would like to go for a candidate who doesnt have too many outstanding offers, I.e. easy to convert.

  • You don't have to name them. You are not a kid in school. Don't need to do what they tell you.
