  • If you don't have a lot of doctor visit go with Premera high deductible plan. $1500 deductible max out of pocket $2500 for single. Microsoft puts $1000 to your HSA every year. Premera has bigger network and covers more drugs. For basic health care services, use on campus clinic for cheaper doctor visits and prescription. This is Redmond main campus

Also, I am not much clear about 2 things in HMO 1. As my wife is home maker, I have to add her in msft HMO plan. How much will be my pay check deductions? Secondly I see 10% inpatient. So is it $20 fixed or $20+ 10% copay?

    • I started working for Microsoft in Redmond recently. Unfortunately blind does not have a way of changing the employer without creating a new account. If your wife is not employed then there is no additional pay check deduction for adding her. Outpatient copay is $20 fixed. Inpatient deductible is 10% until you hit the yearly out of pocket maximum

  • People not used to high deductible HSA plans tend to freak out at first, but if you crunch the numbers it's pretty competitive.

  • Health, vision and dental insurance is free for the employee. Microsoft pays the entire premium(no paycheck deductions). Yes they offer kaiser hmo as an option.

  • Family of 4 on ppo about $800/month plus $8,000 out of pocket prior to hitting 100% coverage. Microsoft prefers young healthy single or married no kids employees.
