AWS S3 Engineer Promotion Opportunity

‪I have a great feature idea for a small S3 feature on the AWS Console Management that would probably score someone a promotion if They work on that team. If you do work on that team, feel free to take the idea without giving credit.

First, let me explain how you can measure this when using it for your promotion. Start by measuring the percentile grouping of successive changes to S3 bucket policy changes done on the AWS console management dashboard by individual user. Take measurements before and after you A/B test the feature.

Second, let me explain the feature that will measurably reduce the amount of success of changes after an initial a three pack a policy change. Visualize the author’s changeset diff proposed on the s3 bucket policy, similar to how a git diff is used before a git commit.

Without viewing the data that will be collected, I can only speculate what benefits would be derived from a business perspective. I suspect you MIGHT see a small reduction in labor for support regarding a s3 bucket policies, a reduction in customer cloud watch alarms, a reduction in network traffic caused by reduced successive a s3 bucket policy changes, and you might see some positive mentions of the features utility mentioned on social media. Bring all of those things up in your review.

I used to just use diffchecker to track diffs, but ideally ur org should have infra as code and bucket policies documented as code somewhere and that gets rolled out from there

    • Well no duh dummy. The suggestion is not related to my work. The suggestion is for a product feature that services millions of random customers with varying experience and needs.. No wonder GCP is in last 🙄
