I’m graduating soon. My goal is to have 250k salary in 5-8 years. Is that realistic if I focused on front end? If not, what field would?

Why da fuk ppl think frontend(web/desktop/mobile) devs are second class citizens? We literally have the same job title lol

Best thing about FE for me is that I never need to be on call. Chill as fuk

Didn’t know about this. I thought BE devs are more second class citizens. Their work is hidden at the back

I never see BE dev as second class citizens, cuz oftentimes they are the ones that are doing the heavyliftings… the thing I like about FE though is that I’m able to showcase/present my work to ppl and be proud of it whereas if I were a BE dev, it’s only gonna be words describing it and I as a bad communicator could never got ppl interested in it lol

Frontend dev here (mobile). 10yoe. Making 400k at Twitter, and just accepted an offer elsewhere for 650k. Frontend is very in demand, the only area that's unilaterally paying higher right now is ML. Backend pays the same as frontend. Moral of the story is to go for whatever domain you like.

You can get that TC in 5 years. But as you're graduating soon people expect you to be general swe before you dive into a particular area. I was in the same position but couldn't land fe role at good tech companies
