Got offers from 3 very different companies. Want some advice from folks here Role is SWE Personal preference: learning >= career growth > $ Roblox: Pro: 1 Highest initial offer 310k (~185k cash + ~500k RSU / 4 y) 2 Manager seems nice and team is expanding 50% 3 Prominent metaverse player 4 Career growth seems promising Cons: 1 Will be writing C# and .NET, not sure how transferable it is 2 Reorg will be happening around the time I join(in 2-3 months) 3 Seems hard to apply for working remotely permanently in the future Flexport: tc ~275k with 165k cash and ~110k paper money per year at the latest valuation Pro: 1 Logistics business seems a boom due to recent geopolitical issues 2 IPO upside 3 Team is really small and manager wants to make it an org in 1-2 years 4 Will be working on identity management team and it seems quite transferable in the future(SSO, auth service, etc) Cons: 1 Heard Amazon culture from people working there. Not sure if it’s throughout the company or just in few teams 2 Seems promotion will be relative slower than Roblox Chainlink labs: tc 275k. I can split it between $LINK and cash however I want (What it does: Provide Oracle API for real world to interact with on chain blocks, monopoly or >50% market size in the Oracle space) Pro 1 Seems like the best company to learn Web 3 since it does not bet on specific chains 2 Potential 10x if super bullish on crypto and blockchain Con 1 very small company and lots of processes are still to be figured out like career progression, performance bonus, etc. 2 The company doesn’t support GC application and I’m on H1B visa with 4 year left 3 Not sure how transferable will be the skill sets and how hard it’s to jump back to Web 2 companies Blind tax YOE: 2, Current TC: ~260k after the nosedive for stocks #engineering #swe #tech
