So I feel as if I am poorly coding just to make things work, instead of making very high quality code.
I’ve been here almost a year. XFN support is pretty thin since so many projects are concurrently going on. FB much better supported here.
That being said, I can’t complain. TC is 800K. It’s worth the trade off. Snap is also investing in infra and refractors to correct these issues. They should be in a good spot in a few years. There’s so many opportunities to be part of the improvement. At FB, you find yourself digging for things to do. At Snap, you’ll do well, because you’ve seen the problems FB has already solved. You can help solve them here and get recognition.
Xfn can be great, it can be frustrating - always a pain when a large partner changes priorities in the middle of a quarter. For the most part, have had a wonderful time working with partner teams.
I get support from my team and managers.
Code quality comments are definitely team based..
Snap is small, and definitely behind in tooling - however, I haven't encountered a scenario where it's required me to reinvent a wheel (some times it means you have to productionize a team's library because they aren't staffed to do it and you require it lol - however, how often does that happen?).
I came from Amazon, been my favorite place to work at to date.
