What do you think of people who inflate their titles , experience or role on LinkedIN. It annoys me quite a bit - I don't publicly call anyone out on it though.

  • LinkedIn should have the ability for someone to report inaccurate data. Not the details but the dates and tenure of employment. I know someone who listed 2 years at a company when the were forced out in 10 months. I wish I could report that.

  • it's the same as lying on your resume. it'll come out in the background check if it's egregious. I do use the title field to better describe my role since at FB you can have the same title across 6+ levels.

We colleagues and friends make fun of them...and mostly are certain that based on what they have written and what they know, they would never be able to change jobs.
before anyone says anything, many people are still able to lie through interviews and get a new job, but then they suck there and thus are back in market soon.
Apart from that I don't think I care for them and waste time thinking about it.
